Both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner picked up more silverware during the recent Asian Swing, adding to their growing collections.
Alcaraz took on Taylor Fritz in a Laver Cup rematch, this time in Tokyo, and came out on top again. His win at the Japan Open marked another strong performance in what’s becoming a standout year.
Over in China, Sinner didn’t have much trouble either. He handled Learner Tien in straight sets to add another hard-court title to his name.
The early part of this season has continued a familiar trend: Sinner and Alcaraz sitting atop men’s tennis. While players like Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev remain contenders, the gap seems wider than ever.
According to Patrick Mouratoglou, who has previously worked with Serena Williams among others, there’s a clear reason behind their success: “They’re already one step ahead of Novak Djokovic,” he told FirstSportz.
Speaking on Instagram, Mouratoglou said: “Alcaraz just won Tokyo, Sinner just won Beijing, both won an ATP 500. Another trophy this year. The quality is still insane, and the level of confidence of those two guys is unbelievable.
“Deep inside there is a voice telling them I’m gonna find a way to win even when Sinner lost a set to de Minaur, you know or you could feel that he knew deep inside he will find a way to win and even though de Minaur played an incredible match, he made him crack at the end.
“Alcaraz is a genius of the game. He has everything, can do anything on a tennis court. He won this final against Fritz in the last game when he felt the tension, he just threw three unbelievable drop shots.
Alcaraz has enjoyed a strong 2025 season, winning eight titles including Grand Slam victories at Roland Garros and the US Open.
He also took home three ATP Masters 1000 titles, with wins in Monte-Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati.
Sinner has claimed three tour-level titles this year. He opened his campaign with a victory at the Australian Open before serving a three-month suspension.
