For Netflix or sign for Sinner? Carlos Alcaraz strikes fear on his debut at the Rome Open
LaPresse

It was a sensational start for Carlos Alcaraz at the Rome Open 2025 leaving behind all the doubts about his physical condition and passing over a Dusan Lajovic who had no chance against the Spaniard in the Central of the Foro Italico.

Carlitos, contrary to what he had done in the other tournaments played so far on clay (Monte Carlo and Barcelona, remember that he did not play Madrid due to injury), came out very plugged in, as if the repercussions of his fame as a party animal after his documentary on Netflix forced him to prove that he is a great professional. Or as if the return of Jannik Sinner made him wake up again from his lethargic state.

Be that as it may, the fact is that he went 4-0 at the start destroying his opponent with forehands and backhands as if he had not been. He ended up closing the rest by 6-3 after, yes, conceding one serve.

The second set started the same as the first, with a very awake and plugged Alcaraz who was quickly 3-0 up on the scoreboard. There was no turning back in a duel that the player from El Palmar dominated with his serve and with deep returns that did much damage to a completely lost Lajovic. Thus, the player from Murcia closed the duel by a double six to three. Very good level of Carlitos in his return;

Now the Spaniard awaits riva for the second round of the winner of the duel between the American Alex Michelsen (number 31 seed) and the Serbian Laslo Djere.
