After a collaboration that spanned across a total of eight years, Czech tennis star Karolina Muchova announced she would be parting ways with her coach, Emil Misek, for the second time.

The former World No.8 has been unable to regain her previous form as she's battled lingering health issues. Seeded 15th at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, Muchova lost in the opening round to China's Xinyu Wang.

Misek aided Muchova in reaching new heights

The Slovak coach began working with the Czech player in 2017, with their partnership ending in 2020. However, Muchova invited him back to her team in December 2022 and the duo began a rather successful collaboration.

Under Misek's tutelage, Muchova reached the final of the 2023 French Open, where she lost to Polish star Iga Swiatek. The Olomouc native would also reach the semifinals of the US Open in 2023 and 2024, and climb to a career-high ranking of World No.8.

However, the 28-year old has suffered a dip in form this season, hindered by injuries and poor play. Muchova would release a statement on Tuesday, where she revealed she was parting ways with Misek but thanked him for his hard work and support.

"It was a valuable stage for which I am grateful," wrote Muchova. "But at this moment I feel it is time to go in a different direction. Emile, thank you for everything we have accomplished together."

The Slovak coach would respond soon after, wishing Muchova the best as she continues to navigate the WTA Tour.

"Our collaboration was a wonderful and successful stage, which culminated in reaching eighth place in the WTA rankings" said Misek. "I am glad that we came to its conclusion together and on good terms as friends. I thank Karolina for the time we spent together, and I wish her much success in her future career."
