Four U.S. women finish inside the WTA year-end top 10 for the first time since 2004.
It has been a landmark season for American women’s tennis, with Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula once again at the centre of the country’s resurgence. Gauff, who first caught Roger Federer’s attention as a teenager, has only strengthened her status as a superstar, capturing her second Grand Slam title at this year’s French Open.
Her breakthrough followed an equally impressive run from fellow Americans: Madison Keys lifted the Australian Open trophy, while Amanda Anisimova reached the finals of both Wimbledon and the US Open. Together, they formed the backbone of a season unlike anything the U.S. has seen in over two decades.
The final WTA rankings underline how dominant the U.S. contingent has been. Gauff ends the year at No. 3, with Anisimova close behind at No. 4. Pegula and Keys occupy the No. 6 and No. 7 spots respectively — making them the first quartet of American women to finish a season in the top 10 since 2004.
Back then, the group consisted of Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Lindsay Davenport and Jennifer Capriati — four legends of the sport. Matching that milestone highlights just how strong and deep the current generation has become.
Beyond the top 10, the picture remains just as promising. Emma Navarro sits just outside at No. 15 and previously broke into the elite group, while 17-year-old Iva Jovic is emerging as one of the brightest young talents on the tour.
Coco Gauff finishes the season as the highest-ranked American woman on the WTA Tour, ending the year at No. 3 at just 21 years old. Close behind her is Amanda Anisimova, who at 24 climbs to No. 4 after a standout campaign.
Further down the top 10, Jessica Pegula secures the No. 6 spot at age 31, while Madison Keys, now 30, follows immediately in seventh place. Together, they form the historic group of four American women inside the year-end top 10.
Just outside that elite bracket, Emma Navarro continues her rise, finishing the year 15th at 24 years old. She leads a strong group of Americans in the top 50, including Sofia Kenin at No. 28 (27 years old), McCartney Kessler at No. 31 (26), and rising teenage talent Iva Jovic, who at just 17 already holds the 35th position.
Rounding out the top American performers are Ann Li, ranked 38th at 25, and Ashlyn Krueger, a 21-year-old who closes the season at No. 45.
