Grigor Dimitrov considers himself 'very lucky' to beat all of Big 4 – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray

Dimitrov then joked that he didn’t want to face any of them right now. He admitted how playing against these greats of the game has helped to shape his career.

I don't want to play them, don't get me wrong (smiling) at the moment, but it's kind of sad. I love watching them play. I love competing against them, and you can always learn something. Grigor Dimitrov added

Federer retired in 2022 after lifting 20 Grand Slam titles in his illustrious career. Nadal and Murray have hinted that they may retire after 2024. Djokovic is not playing in the tournament but will make his comeback during the clay season.

Grigor Dimitrov ended Carlos Alcaraz’s chance of a Sunshine Double

World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz was eyeing his historic Sunshine Double which is now ruined by Grigor Dimitrov. In the quarterfinal against the Bulgarian, Alcaraz dealt with a harrowing defeat as he could win just six games.

The Spaniard won two games in the first set and showed signs of returning in the second. But the 32-year-old took advantage of the situation and ensured he didn’t lose momentum and knocked out the first seed with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-4.

And though his victory over Alcaraz came so easily, it wasn’t the case against Alexander Zverev. The match wasn’t one-sided and it was stretched to the decider set where the German couldn’t win more than four games. Dimitrov will now face Jannik Sinner for the fourth time in his career. The Italian leads the head-to-head records 2-1.
