Holger Rune has shared a positive update on his recovery from the Achilles injury that ended his 2025 season early.

Rune went down in agony during his semifinal encounter with Ugo Humbert in Sweden back in October of this year.

And his worst fears were quickly realised when it was confirmed that he would need surgery to fix the problem.

The Dane is set to miss the early stages of the 2026 ATP Tour season due to the injury, but he has remained very positive throughout his recovery so far.

Holger Rune hits while standing on both feet

Unlike many other injury-hit players, Rune has been sharing constant updates about his recovery with his fans.

And those fans may just have received the most positive update yet, with Rune sharing footage on his Instagram story of himself hitting a ball while standing on both feet.

A return to full fitness still seems some way off for the Dane, but he’s definitely taking steps in the right direction after hitting such a big milestone.

There have been understandable fears that he is attempting to move too quickly with his recovery, but for now it seems there have been no problems in that regard.

What did Holger Rune achieve on the ATP Tour in 2025?

It’s certainly a major milestone for Rune, who has already achieved great feats despite his relatively brief career so far.

The 22-year-old ace once climbed as high as fourth in the world rankings, and boasts five career ATP titles.

One of those titles arrived in Barcelona this year, where Rune overcame superstar Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

But injury has played a part in the Dane dropping to 15th in the world rankings, with his one title in 2025 accompanied by 36 wins and 22 losses.

The trophy represented his first since Munich in 2023, a tournament he won in 2022 along with Stockholm and the ATP Masters 1000 Paris.
