Former world number one Andre Agassi has been seen working with Denmark’s Holger Rune ahead of the DC Open. The ATP event will begin on July 21 in Washington, where several notable players are expected to participate.

One of them will be Rune, who will be taking the court for the first time after a disappointing outing at Wimbledon. Rune was knocked out after losing in the first round to Chile’s Nicolas Jarry in a five-set thriller, despite taking a two-set lead with a score of 4-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4. After the match, Rune made some comments which led him to face criticism from different quarters of the tennis community as well.

"Not at all. I mean, if I play normal, I'm beating him nine out of ten times, with all respect for Nicolas Jarry,” he said back then. "Obviously today didn't make it a lot easier with my knee, but yeah, it was not great. Yeah, I think I started all right in the match playing well. Then third set, a bit unlucky. Fourth set I started to feel my knee and then got some treatment. Yeah, never was able to serve and hit my backhand as I was, you know, able to do in the first two sets. I've had it before. I have not had it for a long time. I don't know. I know what it is, and especially being extremely low on the grass, it can bother that area. You know, obviously didn't expect it to come back, but that can happen, yeah."

It was Rune’s 14th defeat in 36 matches this year. To improve those numbers, Agassi has been seen working with Rune ahead of the DC Open. The pictures were shared on the social media platform X of two people working together. It is unclear in which capacity Agassi joined Rune’s training camp. Still, rumours suggest that the two are working together to see if they can establish some chemistry before deciding whether to make the partnership more official.
