Eiza Gonzalez has shown support for her boyfriend, Grigor Dimitrov, after a dramatic end to his Wimbledon campaign. The 34-year-old’s journey in the third Grand Slam of the year ended on Monday in the round of 16 where he was forced to retire while facing Italy’s Jannik Sinner.

Dimitrov suffered an injury during the third set when he was leading the reigning world number one two sets to love and two games all in the third. The result was a major heartbreak for Dimitrov, who left the court in tears as it was the fifth Grand Slam where he was forced to retire.

Following that, Wimbledon, on their official account on Instagram, posted the video of Dimitrov leaving the arena in tears with a caption: "A sight we never want to see. Grigor Dimitrov is forced to retire while leading two sets to love. Everyone at #Wimbledon is wishing you a speedy recovery, Grigor." Dimitrov’s girlfriend Gonzalez showed support for her boyfriend in the comments section by stating: "A WINNER. He will build an even better story. Stronger inside and out."

That’s not it, as Gonzalez also shared a supporting message on her Instagram story. "Love of my life. I couldn't be more proud of you. You are BEYOND outstanding. This is just a moment that will pass and will make you even stronger. But watching you today alongside the world was a reminder of who YOU are. You're a winner. We all saw it. And you'll do it again. ❤️ I love you @grigordimitrov," she wrote.

Dimitrov’s opponent, Sinner, was clearly shocked after getting through to the next round at the expense of the 34-year-old, who looked to be on course to secure a famous win. "He has struggled in the last Grand Slams with injuries a lot, so seeing him again with this injury is very tough,” said Sinner while talking to the media after the match. "We all saw by his reaction how much he cares about the sport. He is one of the hardest-working players on tour and it is very unfortunate."
