Amanda Anisimova's tough defeat received reactions from the tennis world, which sent their support to the American via social media after she suffered a "double bagel" against Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon final. Some of her colleagues, like Coco Gauff, Nick Kyrgios and Daria Kasatkina, expressed regret over Anisimova's uncharacteristic performance.
It had been a great tournament for the 24-year-old player, who defeated World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals in the best win of her career, reaching a Grand Slam final for the first time. However, she crumbled against an impeccable Swiatek, who claimed her 6th Grand Slam title with an incredible 6-0, 6-0 in just 57 minutes.
While Swiatek achieved a historic victory, Anisimova suffered perhaps the most painful defeat of her career. It was a match where she was never able to be competitive and was far from her grass-court performances over the past month.
Her colleague, Russia's Daria Kasatkina, was one of the first to post a message on social media while Anisimova was seen crying on television broadcasts.
"I just wanna hug Amanda,” wrote Kasatkina on her X account.

Also, World No. 2 – and recent Roland Garros champion – Coco Gauff, had words for her compatriot. “so much to be proud of Amanda❤️❤️❤️ keep your head up ”

2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios later joined in, also offering words of encouragement for the American, who will move up to World No. 7 starting this Monday. “Amanda!!! Slam finalist!!! Head up ❤️”

Former Serena Williams coach, Rennae Stubbs, lamented the hateful comments that arose about Anisimova from some social media users who criticized the poor result of the final. “Anyone who goes on social media to trash Amanda needs to really check themselves. This is a kid that just made her first major final & deservedly so. She’s also someone who’s overcome a lot, including losing her father when she was a teenager. She’s is a lovely kid, so chill.”
“Feel so badly for her. No one knows that feeling, 1st major final. Obviously nervous, playing against someone that’s been there so many times in finals of majors. Now it’s all about omg I’m so embarrassed and and and. The mind is going a million miles an hour! Can’t relax.”
