Carlos Alcaraz is addressing the expectations of potentially winning his third consecutive Wimbledon title, as he arrives in impeccable form. The Spaniard is the heavy favorite to claim the title, as champion in 2023 and 2024, in addition to his recent triumph at the Queen's Club Championships.
The Spaniard is at peak confidence after successfully defending his French Open title, defeating Jannik Sinner in an epic final – where Alcaraz even saved three match points. The World No. 2 beat Sinner in a final for the second consecutive time, just two weeks after their clash at the Rome Open.
This time, the differences in Alcaraz's favor seem even greater against a Sinner who hasn't quite found his best level on grass courts, while Carlos comes from securing his 4th grass-court title, boasting an incredible 29-3 record (90.6%). The Spaniard could become the 5th player in history to win the title three consecutive times at the All England Club, joining Bjorn Borg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic.
Alcaraz holds a winning streak of 18 consecutive victories, the best run of his career, and a total of 27 wins in his last 28 matches, with 4 titles along the way. The Spaniard acknowledged that the goal at Wimbledon is to leave with his 6th Grand Slam trophy. "I really want to win the title, I really want to lift the trophy," said Alcaraz ahead of his press conference. "Right now, I'm not thinking about who I could join if I win three Wimbledons in a row. I am just thinking I want to be ready and to prepare myself in the best way. I feel a lot of confidence."
The World No. 2 will face Italian Fabio Fognini in the first round, whom he has defeated in their two previous encounters.
