'I wish I could have put on a better performance' - Amanda Anisimova reflects on her one-sided Wimbledon final loss to Iga Swiatek

American tennis star Amanda Anisimova was soundly defeated by Iga Swiatek in the final of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. After a few weeks of reflection, the New Jersey native has opened up on her mindset during that stressful period.

Anisimova shocked everyone by making it to her first Grand Slam final, defeating World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals. However, she had little chance against an in-form Swiatek, who dominated from the start to record a 6-0 6-0 win and clinch her maiden Wimbledon title.

Understandably distraught, Anisimova disappeared from the public eye for a few weeks. She would make her return at the 2025 Canadian Open, where she fell to former World No.3 Elina Svitolina in the round of 16.

As Anisimova prepares for her opening round match against Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean at the Cincinnati Open, the fifth seed spoke on whether she would have done things differently at SW19 a few weeks ago.

Support from friends and fans helped me during that time, says Anisimova

"It was really special to see how many people were sending me the sweetest messages," said Anisimova in an interview with the Cincinnati Press. “Lots of support from people, which I wasn’t really expecting after the performance I had.
“I felt really bad because I wish I could have put on a better performance, or could have competed harder, especially in a Grand Slam final. There was definitely that side of guilt immediately after. To see what everyone was saying to me after really helped me get through that.
"It reminded me of just how far I’ve come and what it actually took to get to the final after those two weeks. It’s not often that you get a lot of positive feedback on social media. I’ve had a lot of incredible interactions. Everyone who has come up to me has been so sweet and has said the nicest words. I’ve enjoyed it a lot.
“Just being able to interact with people, having conversations and hearing how much they enjoyed watching me means the world to me. It’s been a heartfelt few weeks."
