Injury scare rocks Wimbledon as Novak Djokovic cancels practice session

Novak Djokovic is causing concern heading into his Wimbledon semifinal match against World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, after canceling his scheduled practice for this Thursday. The 24-time Grand Slam champion had his practice set for 2:00 PM, but it was ultimately called off.

The Serb is coming off a tough battle against Italian Flavio Cobolli in the quarterfinals, where he suffered a fall that caused physical discomfort in his left foot, leaving Djokovic sprawled on the grass.

The former World No. 1 had conceded the first set to Cobolli in a tie-break, but he recovered in the second part of the match, taking the next three sets consecutively (6-7, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4). Djokovic will look to reach his 7th consecutive Wimbledon final this Friday, although doubts remain about whether he will be in good physical condition.

"Obviously, (my) body is not the same today like it was before, so I guess the real impact or effect of what happened I will feel tomorrow," he said about his fall after beating Cobolli. "So let’s see. I’m hoping the next 24, 48 hours that the severity of what was happening on the court and what happened is not too bad, that I’ll be able to play at my best and free of pain in two days."

At the moment, Djokovic has not provided any new information about his health status ahead of his upcoming match against Sinner. The 23-year-old Italian leads the head-to-head 5-4, having won their last four consecutive encounters. The last time they met was just a month ago in the French Open semifinals, where Sinner secured a straightforward victory in straight sets.
