Jannik Sinner left no room for surprises as he delivered a commanding win over Alexander Bublik, 6–1, 7–5, 6–0, to return to the semifinals of Roland Garros. The world No. 1 produced a masterful performance under the closed roof and remains undefeated in sets throughout this year’s French Open.
The Italian entered the match as the overwhelming favourite — and he lived up to the expectations. Once again, he never dropped serve and swept past Bublik with authority. His next challenge will be against the winner of the night session clash between Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic.
Sinner showed his superiority from the start, confidently holding his first service game and quickly earning break opportunities. He took control with a dominant first-serve percentage (83%) and punished Bublik whenever the Kazakh had to rely on his second serve.
Sinner earned back-to-back breaks, racing to a 5–0 lead in just over 20 minutes. Bublik avoided a bagel by saving a break point on his serve, even creating a couple of break chances of his own — but couldn’t convert. Sinner sealed the set 6–1 with class, hitting 10 winners compared to Bublik’s 6, with both players committing 8 unforced errors.
The second set was tighter, as Bublik began to find his rhythm and held his service games with ease. Neither player generated break opportunities until midway through the set. At 3–3, Sinner earned a chance but couldn’t convert.
Bublik delivered a strong serving display, landing 73% of first serves and winning 74% of those points. But his resistance faltered late. At 5–5, a shaky game from Bublik gave Sinner a couple of openings — and the Italian took full advantage, breaking serve before closing out the set with a love hold, 7–5.
With momentum fully on his side, Sinner remained composed while Bublik appeared increasingly resigned to defeat. A break in the opening game set the tone, and Sinner quickly went up 2–0.
The third game — one of the longest of the match — saw Bublik fight to stay in it, but Sinner converted his fourth break point to go up a double break. From there, there was little Bublik could do. Sinner maintained his intensity, held serve comfortably, and grabbed a third break to seal the match in style: 6–1, 7–5, 6–0. Sinner now awaits the winner of Djokovic vs Zverev, to be played in the night session.
