Jack Draper's victory in the quarterfinals of the Queen's Club Championships has allowed him to secure his position as the 4th seed for the upcoming Wimbledon. This will have direct implications for his draw, benefiting him at the expense of Taylor Fritz.
This week is the last before the Wimbledon seeding order is finalized, and one of the lingering questions was about the 4th seed. Draper began the week as World No. 6 but with some chances to advance into the top-4. His win against Brandon Nakashima precisely confirms his best-ever ranking as of Monday.
The defeat of Taylor Fritz (World No. 4) in the first round of the Queen's Club Championships, against Corentin Moutet, removed his chance to defend last year's points, causing him to lose 100 ranking points. Coupled with Novak Djokovic (No. 5) not competing this week, Draper needed to reach at least the semifinals to enter the top-4 for the first time in his career.
Starting next week in that position will allow him a more favorable draw at Wimbledon, as he will completely avoid facing Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, or Alexander Zverev until a potential semifinal. Similarly, Taylor Fritz will have a lower seeding and will be on a collision course with one of the top-4 players in the quarterfinals.
Draper will not be able to advance further in the rankings this week – as he still has a large difference of almost 2,000 points compared to Alexander Zverev – but he remains in contention for the title at Queen's Club. His next challenge will be against Czech Jiri Lehecka, who comfortably defeated Jacob Fearnley and has yet to drop a set in the tournament.
