James Trotman has opened up about his split with Jack Draper after a successful four-year partnership.
Their time together came to an end following what was their most productive season, with Draper rising to World No. 4 in the rankings.
Draper is set to appear next at the UTS Finals, where he’ll be joined by new coach Jamie Delgado rather than Trotman.
Trotman has responded to the news, offering some thoughts in the wake of their separation.
Trotman played a key role in helping Draper establish himself on the ATP Tour in 2025, a season highlighted by three title wins, including a breakthrough triumph at Indian Wells.
The two first teamed up in 2021, when Draper was still just 19 years old, and Trotman has reflected positively on what they accomplished together.
“I’ll be following and supporting in any way I can. I feel incredibly proud of the work that I’ve done,” said Trotman via The LTA.
“Where Jack is now is not just as a result of me, it’s a result of everybody that’s worked with Jack and his family from a young age.”
Draper will now turn to Jamie Delgado as his new coach. Delgado has plenty of experience, having previously worked with players like Andy Murray, Grigor Dimitrov, and Denis Shapovalov.
Draper has openly praised Trotman in the past, describing their relationship as both professional and deeply personal.
“Trots is a very special man,” Draper told Tennis Icon before they parted ways. “Obviously, he’s an incredible tennis coach.”
“He’s been on the journey with me for many years now even before he was officially my coach,” the British No. 1 added.
Draper is currently recovering from an injury that kept him out of most of the previous season and will be looking to reassert himself in the ATP Tour top 10 when he returns in 2026.
