Jannik Sinner is a remarkable ambassador for tennis, but does not let his profession get in the way of his enjoyment of other sports.

After all, having had the option to have gone professional in ski racing as a child, whilst also outlining his enjoyment of both golf and Formula 1, the Italian is spinning many sporting plates.

As a fan of Italian success at any level, he has been blessed in the latter sport already this season, given how Kimi Antonelli has started the season.

And, after watching his compatriot claim a second Grand Prix win in just three races, Sinner dedicated much of his Miami Open title celebrations to the teenage sensation.

Jannik Sinner writes message for Kimi Antonelli after he wins the Japanese Grand Prix

Firstly, when writing on the camera right after he beat Jiri Lehecka in straight sets, the 24-year-old offered a three-word message.

He simply wrote: “Bez. Kimi. Italia.”

Then, discussing the Formula One result, he added: “It’s funny. I sent him obviously a message, and it was like, ‘Good luck to you as well.’ So we follow each other, and the funny thing is that Moto GP, an Italian won, Marco. So it has been an amazing weekend for us, Italians.

“I am happy to be part of this group. We have a very important game now, of course football, on Tuesday. We are going to really hope that this goes in our way, but we will play against Bosnia.”

Sinner now needs the football team to secure their spot in the FIFA World Cup later this week to secure what would be a momentous week for Italian sport.

Kimi Antonelli is making history in Formula 1

Whilst Sinner has made tennis history by becoming the first player to ever win the Indian Wells and Miami Open titles back-to-back without dropping a set, Antonelli has created some Formula 1 history of his own this weekend.

After all, having won in Suzuka, just two weeks after he won the Chinese Grand Prix as well, the 19-year-old has become the youngest man to ever lead the Drivers’ Championships.

He is closely trailed by his Mercedes teammate George Russell, with these two having already established a gap between themselves and the Ferrari pair of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in third and fourth, respectively.

We could be about to see a historic year for Italian sport, led by Sinner and Antonelli’s excellence in their respective fields.
