Carlos Alcaraz has been receiving praise from everybody after this brilliant US Open title win. The Spanish star beat Jannik Sinner in four sets to register his 6th Grand Slam title.

Out of the ones who have appreciated, Jaume Munar has been one of the biggest players to commend his countryman. He believes that the newly-ranked World No.1 played the most dominant Grand Slam event of his career so far. Munar said in the Davis Cup press conference:

Spectacular. He played at a very high level of tennis, first of all. He went up to another level, in my personal opinion, it was the Grand Slam he won in which he was most consistent from start to finish. We’re talking about a generational talent, someone who is going to compete to break records. As a tennis player and rival, I don’t like him as much (smiles), as a teammate and a Spaniard, obviously enjoy it and be aware of what we have at home.

Alcaraz played Novak Djokovic and Sinner in the semifinals and finals of the US Open. He only lost one set against both of them. He has now won four of the five meetings against Sinner this year. The only loss came in the Wimbledon finals, which ended his two-year title defense.

Carlos Alcaraz takes well-deserved break after the US Open

Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz has been in the spotlight nonstop, and it’s easy to see why. Just days after capturing the 2025 US Open title with a win over Jannik Sinner, he made the rounds in New York City. His celebratory press tour even included a new blonde hairstyle that quickly spread across social media.

Now, with the Grand Slam season wrapped up and the Asian Hard Court Swing approaching, Alcaraz is finally slowing down. Tournament officials confirmed he will not play in Spain’s Davis Cup qualifier this weekend. The team will also be without Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, leaving Spain short of its top two stars.

Spain’s lineup instead features Jaume Munar, Pedro Martinez, Roberto Carballes Baena, Pablo Carreno Busta, and Marcel Granollers. They will take on Denmark, led by Holger Rune, with the winner booking a spot in November’s Davis Cup Final 8 in Bologna. Italy, the defending champion, will be aiming for a third consecutive title there.

For fans, there’s good news: the world No. 1 won’t be gone for long. Alcaraz is confirmed for the 2025 Laver Cup, set for September 19–21 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. That event will mark his return to action after a short but much-needed break.

Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu hint at doubles reunion

World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu have both confirmed their participation in the upcoming exhibition event “A Racquet at The Rock”, which takes place on Sunday, December 7, in New Jersey. The two Grand Slam champions recently played together in the new US Open mixed doubles format, but they will not be teaming up this time. Instead, they will compete in separate singles matches at the showcase.

Their US Open partnership attracted plenty of attention but ended quickly as they lost their opening match 4-2, 4-2 to Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula. Despite the early exit, the pairing generated excitement and gave fans a glimpse of a unique combination. Now, both players will look to entertain the crowd in a different setting.

Alcaraz, who lifted the US Open trophy after beating defending champion Jannik Sinner in the final, is set to face Frances Tiafoe in one of the featured matches. The Spaniard has taken part in several exhibition games before, while Raducanu is stepping into less familiar territory as she rarely plays outside official tournaments.

Raducanu will meet Amanda Anisimova , who has been in excellent form this season. The American won her first WTA 1000 title in Doha, reached the Wimbledon final against Iga Swiatek, and also contested the US Open final, where she finished runner-up to Aryna Sabalenka. The event promises high-quality tennis and a lively end to the season.
