Jessica Pegula has a third title of the season with the World No.3 sealing the Bad Homburg Open to erase the points she lost by losing in the opening round of Berlin last week. She also denied Iga Swiatek her first ever grass court title.

After losing the opening match against Liudmila Samsonova last week, she sealed four wins in Bad Homburg to take a second career grass court title. She defeated Swiatek for the fourth time in the last six matches for her third title of the season.

She needed three sets to win over Emma Navarro and Linda Noskova but that wasn't the case here as she wasn't under threat in either against Swiatek on Saturday afternoon. She only faced one break point and dominated the play throughout. She was strong at parts in both sets which proved vital.

Sealing it 6-4, 7-5, she now heads into Wimbledon a bit more confident than previous weeks. After being arguably the best player in the world throughout the Sunshine Double onto the American clay, she slumped in the following events.

Chief to that was losing to Moyuka Uchijima in Madrid and also Lois Boisson in Paris at the French Open, she decided not to play Queen's and opened up at Berlin and would've been thinking her luck wasn't there after a grueller against Samsonova.

But after a good week, it turns out that she was right to trust her game. While Swiatek's barren run continues not only on grass but title wise since last year at Roland Garros. She has never performed on grass though so will take some solace from a week where she has strung wins together.

But in the end Pegula's nous on the surface proved too good and in a pretty open tournament in SW19, she will be one of the favourites to scoop a maiden Grand Slam.
