Czech Republican mixed doubles pair of Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics as they defeated Chinese duo of Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen in a thrilling contest on Friday (August 2). With this win, they did not only win a gold medal but also rediscovered the spark in their relationship.
Although the couple is keeping their relationship status a “top secret”, the emotional hug and kiss they shared after the win told an obvious story. The Czech couple had reportedly parted ways before they teamed up for the Summer Games in Paris. But things aligned for Siniakova and Machac as they competed alongside each other.
In the final, they came back from behind to win the gold medal. Emotions were running all over the place as Machac and Siniakova exchanged passionate hugs and then also kissed each other. These scenes gave rise to speculation that the couple might have rediscovered the spark in their relationship.
Tomas Machac just won a gold medal with his ex-girlfriend (although it has been reported they're back together) against the guy he plays doubles with during the pro season

If the rumors are true that they broke up just before the #Olympics, that might have been the best decision of their careers https://t.co/8XIE1evdcm
Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac broke up right before Paris Olympics. When Siniakova told press about breakup in Prague Open a few weeks ago, questions were asked about potential partnership with Machac in mixed doubles at Olympics.

Later, in the post-match press conference, the couple was asked about the status of their relationship but Siniakova shrugged the question off saying it was a personal thing and no one needed to know about it.
That’s our personal life, so you don’t need to know that. We like when you are confused. Katerina Siniakova said about her relationship status with Tomas Machac. (H/T: APnews)
Meanwhile, Machac turned it into a joke saying it was a “top secret”.
Katerina Siniakova, with this gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics has justified her ‘doubles specialist’ tag. The Czechia became the only two Summer Games tennis title winner for her country on Friday.
Before this gold in Paris, she teamed with Barbora Krejcikova to win the women’s doubles gold at the Tokyo Games three years ago. Katerina Siniakova has an impressive portfolio which consists of as many as nine doubles Grand Slam titles along with two Olympic gold medals.
While the 28-year-old won seven Major titles with Krejcikova, Siniakova recently teamed up with Coco Gauff to win the French Open title and then with Taylor Townsend to win the Wimbledon Championships. Krejcikova and Siniakova reunited in doubles at the 2024 Prague Open and later at the Paris Games, where they lost in the quarterfinals to the Russian pair of Diana Shnaider and Mirra Andreeva.
