'May not be enough physically,' former Doubles World No.1 Paul Haarhuis reckons that Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner may not be favorites for Roland Garros

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are heading into the French Open with question marks over their heads. With their injuries not completely healed, they might not be at the top of their game and be vulnerable to some early losses.

Both players, who have been dominating over the last few months, have missed the last two tournaments due to their respective injuries.

They are returning after a short break at the French Open, and all eyes will be on them. Despite these injuries, they have a good grasp on the whole tour and are among the favorites for the upcoming Roland Garros

While Alcaraz has suffered a forearm injury since the Miami Open, he has missed many of the Masters 1000 on clay. Sinner has a hip injury and had to pull out of Madrid and his home tournament in Rome. Yet after undergoing surgery, the Italian flew straight to Paris to begin his preparations for the Slam.

However, former doubles World No. 1 Paul Haarhuis reckons that the two players may not be possible favorites for the Grand Slam.

The issue for Alcaraz is physical. He is one of the top contenders if he is fit. What we saw from him in Madrid, that may not be enough physically for him to win a Slam. The same with Jannik Sinner. I just love his game and I love his personality. The same with Alcaraz. Said Haarhuis

The tennis critics will keep a close watch on the two rising stars, and the change in their games due to the injury. Although they might be in good touch, the Dutch say that it is not enough physically.

Paul Haarhuis assesses who will win more Grand Slams between Alcaraz and Sinner

With the evolution of tennis, the debate of who will win more Grand Slams has shifted from the Big Three to the next generations. With Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in great touch and Grand Slam winners, they are the ones in debate.

Paul Haarhuis has his take on this. He said that the athlete who wins more Grand Slams is the one who remains fit for a longer time. With injuries becoming a common sight nowadays, the player who can remain physically fit will win more Grand Slams.

Who wins more out of Alcaraz and Sinner at the end may come down to who can stay fit for the longest. Said Haarhius.

Novak Djokovic, who has won the most singles Grand Slams in the sport, is rarely injured, proving the Dutch’s point. Nevertheless, the fans would hope that Sinner and Alcaraz play their best for the next couple of weeks in Paris.
