Naomi Osaka Received 'Devastating' Question After US Open Loss

Unfortunately for Naomi Osaka, she won't be capturing her third US Open title this September. The former world No. 1 suffered a tough loss to Amanda Anisimova in a three-set thriller, 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 6-3.

Osaka looked incredible throughout this year's US Open, knocking off seeded players such as Coco Gauff, Karolina Muchova and Daria Kasatkina. She reminded the rest of the WTA that she's capable of playing at an elite level on the hard court.

Throughout this year's US Open, fans fell in love with Osaka's fashion. They also adored her custom Labubus after every match.

Following her loss to Anisimova on Thursday night, Osaka was asked if she had a Labubu lined up for the US Open final. That question had her quite emotional during her post-match press conference.

"Oh, don't make me cry, man. Oh, my God, the most devastating question," Osaka replied. "I wanted to make one of myself in last year’s outfit, and it was the green one. I would have had the bow, and I'm sick about it. Oh, my God, that's, like, the worst thing. Honestly, I'm fine losing, but don't ask me about this Labubu, man. Yeah, it would have been me."

Osaka back in the top 15.

Since she made it to the US Open semifinals, Osaka has moved up to No. 14 in the live WTA rankings. This will be her highest ranking since January 2022.

Coming into the US Open, Osaka moved up to No. 23 in the world due to a strong run at the National Bank Open. She ultimately lost a three-set thriller to Victoria Mboko in the final.

Although the past two tournaments have ended in heartbreak for Osaka, she has once again established herself as a true contender for the major titles. There's no question she'll be a threat to win the Australian Open in January. After all, she won that Grand Slam tournament in 2019 and 2021.

We're just not sure if Osaka will bring her Labubus to Melbourne Park.
