There was some controversy in the Wimbledon round of 16 match between Chilean Nicolas Jarry and home favorite Cameron Norrie, which led Nick Kyrgios, the king of controversy, to weigh in on the matter.

The Aussie star announced his withdrawal from this year's Wimbledon Championships after suffering a setback during his recovery from a lengthy injury. The former World No.13 was booted from BBC coverage of the grass court Grand Slam event, but rebounded with an analyst gig on British radio show, TalkSport.

Kyrgios gives opinion on Norrie's antics

The British star had raced to a two sets to love lead during his match against Jarry, and looked to be in control of the match. However, Jarry would complain to the umpire during the break between the second and third set, pointing out the amount of time Norrie used between first and second serves.

The umpire was unable to do much about the situation. Nonetheless, Jarry would battle back, winning the next two sets before Norrie was able to close out the win in a thrilling five-set encouner.

Kyrgios would delve into the issue when reviewing the match on TalkSport on Monday morning, siding with the Brit as Kyrgios believed the number of bounces were not as bad as other players he has faced in the past.

"Tennis just has so many grey areas on the rules," said the former Wimbledon runner-up. "Rafa Nadal, when I played him, his time between first and second serves was a long time and it did put you off. Novak went through a phase where he would bounce the ball and I think it was a record 55 or 60 times, something crazy.
"So this is where home court advantage [comes into play], I think. Cameron Norrie is the only Brit left on the men’s side. 20 bounces really isn’t too bad in my opinion."

Norrie will face his biggest challenge at SW19, when he takes on two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals. The Spaniard leads 4-2 in career meetings, although Norrie won their most recent encounter at the Rio final in 2023.
