Australian star set to team up with a familiar face as he prepares for a 2026 return
Nick Kyrgios is gearing up for a much-anticipated comeback to the ATP Tour at the Brisbane International in 2026, marking his first appearance at the event in several years.
The former world No. 13 has not competed at ATP level since the Miami Open, where he recorded a win over Mackenzie McDonald before being eliminated by Karen Khachanov, but he is now set to feature in both singles and doubles after receiving wild cards.
Tournament organisers have confirmed that Kyrgios will play doubles alongside fellow Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis at the Brisbane International.
The duo are well established as a partnership, most notably capturing the Australian Open doubles title in 2022. Entering their home Grand Slam as wild cards, they went on an impressive run, defeating top seeds Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić, as well as the experienced pairing of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos. Kyrgios has previously competed in Brisbane doubles with different partners, including Taylor Fritz in 2019.
Kyrgios has long spoken fondly of Brisbane, where he lifted the singles trophy in 2018 and produced some of the standout performances of his career.
The Queensland event has also been closely tied to his Davis Cup memories, including Australia’s victory over the United States in 2017, when Kyrgios beat John Isner in singles. With a return to both singles and doubles scheduled for next season, the 30-year-old will be hoping to create more memorable moments in front of the home crowd when he takes to the court in Brisbane once again.
