Nick Kyrgios is set to make his return to tennis next month after spending the majority of 2025 on the sidelines.
The Aussie star has struggled with several injuries since his career-best year in 2022, and has only won one professional singles match in the past three seasons.
However, things are looking up for Kyrgios, with a sudden improvement in his knee condition giving him confidence going into the new year.
Kyrgios has already signed up for several exhibitions over the coming months, including a controversial ‘Battle of the Sexes’ match with the women’s number one, Aryna Sabalenka.
He has now also extended an offer to play doubles with one of the biggest celebrities on the planet…
After images emerged of Drake playing tennis, the Instagram account ‘Overtime Tennis’ made a fake ATP profile for the five-time Grammy winner.
Reacting to the post, Kyrgios posted the following message on his Instagram story.
“@Champagnepapi [Drake], I’m in,” he said.
“Where do you want to play? I’ll organise it.”
A keen NBA fan, Drake has also been spotted at several tennis events over the years.
Supporting Serena Williams, Drake attended Wimbledon, the Canadian Open, and the US Open in 2015.
It’s unlikely that Kyrgios and Drake would be allowed to partner up for a top-tier ATP event, although a smaller tournament would no doubt welcome the star power they’d provide.
Earlier this year, former top 10 ATP player Jack Sock played a match at a Challenger Tour event alongside Bill Ackman, a billionaire hedge fund manager, in Newport, Rhode Island.
Should Drake accept Kyrgios’ offer, they could well do the same in 2026, although it’s unclear whether the Canadian 39-year-old is up for the challenge…
Before any potential partnership with Drake, Kyrgios will make headlines for another blockbuster clash.
The Aussie will take on the four-time Grand Slam champion Sabalenka in Dubai later this year.
Kyrgios and Sabalenka will follow in the footsteps of Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King, who played their ‘Battle of the Sexes’ match back in 1973.
It was King who won on that occasion, defeating Riggs in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.
The rules will be different this time around, however, in a bid to level the playing field between Sabalenka and Kyrgios.
First, the court will be 9% smaller on Sabalenka’s side, giving Kyrgios less margin to work with.
Second, both players will receive just one serve, which should slow down the speeds and encourage longer rallies.
Finally, the first two sets will be played as usual, but the third set, if needed, will be a ten-point tiebreak.
Only time will tell who will emerge victorious in Dubai, but you certainly won’t want to miss any of the action.
The 2025 Battle of the Sexes match between Sabalenka and Kyrgios is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 28.
