Novak Djokovic showed his class once again after teenage sensation Moise Kouame pulled off a historic moment on the ATP Tour. Shortly after the youngster became the youngest player to win a Masters 1000 match since Rafael Nadal, Djokovic reached out personally to congratulate him and offer a few words of encouragement.

For Kouame, the message carried extra meaning; the Serbian legend has long been one of his biggest idols. The victory instantly placed the teenager in the spotlight, marking a major milestone early in his career.

Following the win, the French tennis player revealed the message he received from Djokovic. He said,

“I have a small secret. After the win, Novak texted me. I’m so nervous. I don’t know what to answer. I’m really so nervous right now. I don’t know if I’m going to answer. Maybe if you have tips you can give me.”

When asked what Djokovic said, the 17-year-old said,

“He texted me I think like ‘Big match today. Congrats. Hopefully you’ll go far in the tournament.”

A Closer Look at Moise Kouame’s Achievement

Seventeen-year-old Moise Kouame delivered one of the most memorable moments of the week at the Miami Open, grinding out a hard-fought victory over Zachary Svajda in a match that lasted more than two hours.

The young Frenchman had to dig deep, battling physical issues and clear signs of fatigue late in the contest, but he refused to back down. When the final point ended with an error from Svajda, Kouame dropped to the court in emotion after realizing the magnitude of what he had just achieved.

The win marked the first ATP Tour victory of Kouame’s career, but it was also historic for another reason. At just 17, he became the youngest player to win a Masters 1000 match since Rafael Nadal back in 2003, highlighting just how quickly his rise has come.

Considering he started the year ranked outside the world’s top 800, the progress has been remarkable. After climbing through lower-level events and building confidence on the Challenger circuit, Kouame has now taken a major step onto the sport’s biggest stage.
