Novak Djokovic has revealed which court keeps him motivated to keep going in his tennis career.
Currently competing at the Shanghai Masters, Djokovic is still finding ways to add more records to an already historic career.
The Serbian has claimed 40 Masters titles over his career, but hasn’t won one since Paris in 2023. He fell short in the finals of both the 2024 Shanghai Masters and the 2025 Miami Open.
Before his semi-final match in Shanghai, Djokovic shared which court on the ATP Tour means the most to him.
When asked which venues continue to leave him in awe, Djokovic responded: “That would be Wimbledon Centre Court. Just walking out on the Wimbledon Centre Court is unlike any court out there.”
The 24-time Grand Slam champion went on: “I’m not the only one. I know there is probably the majority of the tennis players dreaming of playing in Wimbledon, winning in Wimbledon.”
Having won seven times at SW19, Djokovic knows better than most what makes it special.
“So I’ve been blessed to win quite a few times in that tournament,” said the star who has lifted the iconic trophy on seven occasions. “And every single time I walk out from the locker room, and on the way to the Centre Court, going through that members’ area, and just seeing history lane with all the pictures and all the trophies, and how gracious and sophisticated everybody is in Wimbledon. It’s just a different feeling. I think that really gives me goose bumps.”
He’s often spoken about his connection to SW19, having once said that winning there was his childhood dream.
Djokovic has always felt a strong connection to his Chinese fanbase, and the support in Shanghai, where he’s a four-time champion, continues to stand out. The response from fans this year has taken him by surprise.
“Walking out here in China, the centre court, for me, every single match really gives me incredible emotions and sensations because of so much support that I’ve been getting,” he said.
“So I did not expect that, that much,” he added. “I know that people appreciate and respect the achievements I had in the last 20-plus years, but it’s been better and better every single year.

“I’ve been trying to return the love with some good tennis, and hopefully they have been enjoying it.” The order of play for Djokovic’s semi-final match against Valentin Vacherot is still to be determined.
