Oleksandra Oliynykova Tattoos Explained: Face Ink, Meaning & Style

After her Australian Open first-round match against defending champion Madison Keys, the Ukrainian explained that she can remove the designs with cleansing oil. She also said the facial tattoos aren’t meant to have a deeper meaning.

“I started to change them. I played with stars, with hearts. Now it’s flowers,” Oliynykova explained, adding that the designs are part of her personal style.

The flower designs at the Australian Open were blue as Oliynykova intentionally coordinated them with her attire and the court. She has tried out various temporary designs, such as stars and hearts, after finding fake face tattoos while shopping at the US Open.

What do Oleksandra Oliynykova’s Body Tattoos Mean?

Although her facial designs are temporary, Oliynykova has a lot of permanent tattoos on her body. According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport, her left arm is almost entirely tattooed, and the French newspaper L’Équipe reported that she has tattoos on her body.

Oliynykova has linked her entire look with her passion for alternative music. During an interview with journalist Ben Rothenberg, she revealed her love for tattoos and piercings, as well as her style being closely related to her love for rock and Ukrainian post-punk music.

She stated that her interest in alternative fashion, changing her hair color, and tattoos began in her teens and that she got her first tattoo at the age of 16.

That’s why Oliynykova’s tattoos are more about self-expression than one particular message. Her permanent body art, temporary facial designs, and alternative fashion have become a part of her identity on the tennis court.
