Former doubles world number one Pam Shriver has shared what she considers the ‘greatest experience’ of her life. The 62-year-old had an impressive record on the court, both in singles and doubles categories.

In the singles category, Shiver became world number three in 1984 but never managed to win a Grand Slam. She suffered a defeat in the 1978 US Open final to the former world number one, Chris Evert, in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4.

However, in the doubles category, Shiver is renowned as one of the most successful players of all time. She lifted as many as 21 Grand Slam titles in her illustrious career. Not only that, but Shiver also won the doubles event at the WTA Tour Finals 10 times. Shivers won an Olympic medal for her country in 1988 in Seoul. Despite all that, Shivers, in a post on her official account on social media, announced the ‘greatest experience’ she has ever had in tennis while working with Donna Vekic. She stated that while announcing the pair’s separation.

“One of the greatest experiences I have had in my 50+ years in tennis has been helping coach @DonnaVekic since October 2022,” she said. Here in LA, it’s been a challenging year, therefore I need to lean even more into my community & my family’s wellbeing. I am stepping down from Team DV.”

Shiver and Vekic got together in 2022. The development will be a significant setback for Vekic, who is going through a lean patch. She has lost 14 times this year already in just 22 matches. Vekic’s most recent appearance was at the Queen’s Club Championship, where she lost in the round of 32 to Diana Shnaider in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-4. It was the second consecutive occasion this season where Vekic suffered a defeat in the first round.
