Iga Swiatek has pointed out a noticeable difference between the courts at the WTA Finals and those used throughout the rest of the season.

The World No. 2 is in strong form ahead of her return to the tournament, having previously won it back in 2023.

This season has already seen her pick up three titles — Cincinnati, Seoul, and Wimbledon — and adding another WTA Finals crown would only add to what’s been an outstanding year.

Having arrived in Saudi Arabia a few days before the tournament began, Swiatek has already picked up on changes to this year’s setup.

Swiatek has her sights set on the WTA Finals title, aiming to dethrone Coco Gauff, who took home the trophy in 2024.

She’s been training ahead of the tournament and has already noticed a change in conditions compared to most stops on the WTA calendar.

In a conversation with Sky Sports, Swiatek said: “I think I was one of the first players that got here. So, I’m happy that I had a couple of days to practice because the conditions are totally different than on any other tournament with the altitude. So yeah, it’s pretty funny, but I’m just excited to start my first match tomorrow.” The Polish star will be facing Amanda Anisimova, Elena Rybakina and Madison Keys in group play.

Iga Swiatek looks to repeat her 2023 WTA Finals run

Swiatek was flawless at the 2023 WTA Finals, going undefeated on her way to lifting the trophy. She moved through the group stage with wins over Gauff, Ons Jabeur, and Markéta Vondroušová, never losing a set.

In the semi-finals, she handled Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets, conceding just five games across the match. The final was more of the same. Swiatek eased past Jessica Pegula without much resistance, giving up only one game to cap off a dominant week.
