The 2025 Laver Cup took place in San Francisco last weekend, with Team World outplaying their European counterparts to leave the Oracle Arena with the distinguished trophy.

Top-ranked American Taylor Fritz led his Team World colleagues to victory, after picking up wins in both of his singles matches. Fritz stunned former World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz on Saturday, before defeating former Australian Open runner-up Alexander Zverev to clinch the title for his team.

With tennis legend Andre Agassi playing the role of captain, Team World displayed their heart and camaraderie as they stunned their European opponents. Australian Alex de Minaur and Argentine Francisco Cerundolo aided in ensuring Team World had a clean sweep in the singles event on Saturday.

Team Europe made a last minute attempt to level the score after falling to a 6-12 deficit. However, victories by de Minaur and Fritz on the final day of competition ensured that Team World would leave with the victory, preventing the Europeans from prevailing in back-to-back competitions.

A night of celebrations turned ugly, according to Fritz

After recording their third victory at the popular annual event, Team World would look to spend the night reveling in their well-earned victory. Following media obligations, the group would head out to celebrate.

However, the night did not go as smoothly as planned, according to Fritz. The World No.5 would take to his Instagram stories to share with fans what had happened on Sunday night.

Fritz would begin by stating the entire team had a fun night out as they relaxed following three days of intense pressure. However, things would take a sinister turn as they were allegedly scammed by some individuals. Fritz made no mention of their location or who was involved, but it bothered the group enough for the California native to make it known to the public.

"Was a really fun night until the end of the night when we got scammed," wrote Fritz in an Instagram story, accompanied by a picture of the American celebrating with teammate Cerundolo, while holding a sign that read "Laver Cup Champs."
