Emil Ruusuvuori has decided to take some time off from tennis and won’t play for the rest of this year. It has been a challenging year for Ruusuvuori after a brilliant start in January, where he reached the final in Hong Kong. The 25-year-old has lost 10 of his last 15 matches and will focus on his physical and mental health. It looks like a smart move and will probably help him in the long run.
Maria Sharapova, Bob Bryan & Mike Bryan and Daniel Nestor, have been nominated for induction to the International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHOF) in 2025. Sharapova is a five-time singles Grand Slam champion and one of the best players of her generation. She had an incredible career and was one of the most marketable female tennis players of all time. Sharapova did a lot for WTA’s popularity globally.
Bob and Mike Bryan, famously known as the Bryan brothers are the most successful men’s doubles pair in tennis history. They won 16 Grand Slams in doubles together. They were co-ranked at world #1 for an incredible 438 weeks.
Daniel Nestor is one of the greatest doubles players of all time and is one of just five players to complete the Career Super Slam. Nestor won 12 Slams ( 8 doubles, 4 mixed) and was the first player in ATP history to win 1000 doubles matches.
Former world #1, Pliskova had to retire immediately after suffering an injury in the first game of her US Open second-round match against Jasmine Paolini. They were able to play just three points. Pliskova’s ankle was already taped before the start of the match. But she landed on it on a slightly off angle during the match and immediately started hopping on it. Earlier this week, she underwent a successful surgery on her left ankle. She shared the update on her Instagram.
