Tennis Star Camila Giorgi Announces Controversial Return at 34

Camila Giorgi has been retired for three years.

The women's tennis star, now 34, retired back in 2024. She pursued modeling. She also got into some tax trouble.

Giorgi, who is from Italy, had multiple puzzling stories regarding her retirement. It came as a bit of a shock. Giorgi was rumored to have fled to the United States amid tax problems. She and her family were also accused of not paying rent and stealing furniture.

The tennis star turned model shot all of it down.

"I wanted to quit for years, being a tennis player is a hard life," she said at the time. "I put it off for a long time until, in May, one morning, I decided to do it. I told my father."

But now, she's back.

Giorgi announced in an Instagram Story on Wednesday that she is returning to the sport in 2027.

"Will you come back to tournament tennis in the future?" a fan asked her during the Q&A.

She replied, "Yes, in 2027."

Another fan asked: "Are you making a comeback?"

She replied: "Yes, next year."

Giorgi has built up quite a following online

Giorgi, who has close to one million followers on Instagram, has been posting some tennis-themed content.

It'll be interesting to see how the former Wimbledon quarterfinalist looks when she returns in 2027.

The sport will likely have mixed responses to her return.
