Lorenzo Musetti’s 2025 ATP season ended on a high.
Earlier in the year, Musetti revealed that his main goal for the season was qualifying for the ATP Finals in his home country of Italy.
The Italian nearly missed out, qualifying ninth in the race following his loss to Novak Djokovic in the Athens Open final.
However, Djokovic pulled out from the tournament shortly after, handing Musetti the opportunity to compete in the finals.
Although the Italian failed to qualify from the group stage, he did his country proud by defeating Alex de Minaur.
It has been three years since Musetti won his first titles on the ATP Tour. That very same year, the Italian revealed who his tennis idol is.
Speaking to the Next Gen Finals in 2022, Musetti revealed the three individuals he would choose to have dinner with.
“I would pick Roger Federer. He is my idol in tennis,” Musetti said.
“Then Al Pacino. He is one of my favourite actors.
“And probably Tedua, that’s a famous Italian singer. I also have one of his songs tattooed on my rib. I have huge respect for him. It would be a good atmosphere.”
Pacino is regarded as one of the greatest actors in history. The American actor is recognised for his leading roles in The Godfather and Scarface film franchises, as well as roles in ‘Heat,’ ‘The Irishman’ and ‘Donnie Brasco.’
Tedua, real name Mario Molinari, is an Italian singer-songwriter, rapper and actor who has produced famous songs like ‘Vertigini’ and ‘Beatrice.’
Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport recently named Lorenzo Musetti their Italian Athlete of the Year.
The decision is surprising given the successes of Jannik Sinner on the ATP Tour this year.
Musetti has not won an ATP Tour title since 2022. Meanwhile, Sinner won two Grand Slam titles in 2025 and six ATP events in total.
Perhaps this omission will give Sinner the motivation he needs to win a third consecutive Australian Open title in January.
