The 'U.S. Open men's singles champions' quiz

It has been 23 years since an American emerged victorious on home soil at the US Open on the men’s singles side of the bracket. 

But regardless of who wins on Friday night’s semifinal between Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton, someone will have a chance to end that drought over the weekend. The pair do have a history against each other, facing off for the fifth time and the third time at the US Open. While Shelton holds a  3-1 advantage all-time over Tiafoe, the pair have split their two meetings in New York City so far. 

Which brings us to today’s quiz. An American hasn’t been the men’s singles champion at the US Open since Andy Roddick beat Juan Carlos Ferrero in 2003. With that being said, can you name every US Open champion since the beginning of the Open Era in 1968?
