Carlos Alcaraz showered his rival Jannik Sinner with praise after his defeat in the Wimbledon final. The Spaniard lost a 20-match winning streak at the All England Club in another remarkable final against the World No. 1, who ultimately avenged his Roland Garros final loss with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory.

The match did not disappoint, between the two best players in the world for quite some time. As in Roland Garros, they delivered a display of incredibly high-level tennis, which left the Italian with his 5th Grand Slam title, taking revenge for 5 consecutive defeats against Alcaraz.

Both have shown their mutual appreciation several times amidst their matches and their good relationship off the court. The 22-year-old Spaniard displayed great sportsmanship towards his colleague, despite the painful loss, which prevented him from defending the title he had won in 2023 and 2024.

“First of all, just really happy about having this rivalry with him. I think it’s great for us and it’s great for the tennis. Every time we play each other, I think our level is really high. We don’t watch a level like this, if I’m honest with you.. I don’t see any players playing against each other having the level that we’re playing when we face each other.”

“This rivalry is becoming better and better. We’re building a really great rivalry, because we’re playing the final of a Grand Slam, final of Masters… it means the best tournaments in the world. It’s gonna be better and better. I’m really grateful for that. It gives me the opportunity to just give my 100% every practice and every day. Thanks to that. The level I have to maintain and raise if I want to beat Jannik is really high. I’m just really grateful for that.”
