Two-Time Wimbledon Winner Makes Feelings Clear About Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz

When it comes to praise in tennis, it doesn’t get much bigger than a nod from the legendary Rod Laver. And for Jannik Sinner, that’s exactly what came his way after he battled through four tough sets to claim his first Wimbledon title, edging out Carlos Alcaraz in an exciting showdown.

Sinner’s gritty, composed performance didn’t just win over the crowd. It caught the eye of Laver himself, who made sure everyone knew exactly how impressed he was. Safe to say, when a two-time Wimbledon champ has something to say about you, people tend to listen.

Laver took to X following the match to share his thoughts. He said, “Congratulations to Jannik Sinner on winning his first Wimbledon title in another thrilling contest with Carlos Alcaraz. Their growing rivalry is a gift to our sport, and it’s matched by the genuine respect they show for each other. Win or lose, they compete with joy, class, and sportsmanship. That’s what makes champions.”

Five weeks after that gut-wrenching loss in Paris, Sinner got his sweet revenge at Wimbledon, toppling Alcaraz in four sets to grab his first Wimbledon crown and his fourth major overall.

This win makes him the first Italian man to lift the Wimbledon singles trophy. He stayed locked in, especially after dropping the first set, and kept hammering away until he sealed it on his second match point.

Sinner admitted it was tough to bounce back mentally after Roland Garros, but he learned, put in the work, and made it count. Alcaraz gave him big props afterward, too. Their rivalry is turning into the real deal, and with only Roland Garros missing from his collection, Sinner’s got even more motivation for next season.
