Teenage tennis sensation and reigning U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu has returned to her straight-set winning ways that she enjoyed in New York.
As noted by Raz Mirza of Sky Sports, Raducanu defeated Romanian Ana Bogdan 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Transylvania Open held in Romania, the home country of Raducanu's father.
The 18-year-old world No. 23 previously rallied from behind to beat Polona Hercog 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
"I think that it's definitely taking me some time to find my feet still. I'm taking some learnings from every match that I play and I don't think that I'm the finished product yet," Raducanu said during her post-match on-the-court interview Thursday. "I'm still learning from every match, taking the experience and loving my time here in this tournament so far."
The British No. 1 will face Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, 19, in the tournament's next round.
According to Jonathan Jurejko of BBC Sport, Raducanu said she has been bolstered by support from locals on the streets of Cluj-Napoca even though paying spectators cannot attend the Transylvania Open because of restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Raducanu's grandmother still lives in the country.
