Watch: Novak Djokovic Gives Perfect Answer to Aryna Sabalenka Trolling Him for Not Having Theme Song
IPA

And who said Novak Djokovic doesn’t have a song? How Aryna Sabalenka will respond to that?

Djokovic started the fierce dance rivalry by hilariously impersonating her dance moves after breezing past his Roland Garros fourth-round opponent Cameron Norrie. Sabalenka, in response, grooved to her ‘Tiger’ theme song, trolling Djokovic with: “How about that Novak? And you don’t have your song!”

It was Nole’s turn. When perhaps many thought Djokovic would be no match for Alexander Zverev, he came from a set down to deny the German a chance to go for his first Grand Slam title with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 scoreline.

And now did he celebrate it? He had to take his revenge on Sabalenka. When walking down the stairs, he mimicked playing the guitar, dancing to ‘Slam it like Djokovic‘ song by Wodan Boys. Before turning away, he asked, “What about that Sabalenka?

Both the players have now a tough challenge in the form of Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek in the semifinals. Sabalenka went past Qinwen Zheng 7-6(3), 6-3 to book a spot in the French Open semifinal for the second time in her career after the 2023 season.

Swiatek, who knocked out Elina Svitolina, 6-1, 7-5, will be playing her fourth consecutive semifinal in the tournament which she won four times and is playing it as a three-time defending champion. The Pole holds an 8-4 head-to-head lead over the Belarusian and has also clinched victories five times in their six matches on the red dirt. Swiatek, however, hasn’t yet reached a championship match since lifting the French Open last year.

Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev play a 41-shot rally in the semifinal

During the sixth game of the fourth set with Alexander Zverev leading 40-30, Novak Djokovic displayed his fighting prowess when he won a 41-shot rally. Djokovic served and once it was returned, both the players engaged in a rally from the baseline.

The 38-year-old was the first to change the position, making Zverev sprint toward the net when he hit a drop shot. When it was returned, Djokovic had to react quickly to play the shots that Zverev was hitting while standing close to the net.

The 28-year-old eventually ran back and once again, a rally from the baseline was seen and Djokovic once again forced Zverev to dash toward the net by hitting a one-handed backhand drop shot. Zverev was successful in returning again before Djokovic smashed a winner to end the rally.

Jannik Sinner’s coaches spotted scouting during the Novak Djokovic versus Alexander Zverev match

Jannik Sinner’s quarterfinal clash with Alexander Bublik was scheduled on Court Philippe-Chatrier before the Djokovic-Zverev match. Sinner took less than two hours to wrap up the match in his favor with a 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 scoreline.

It was then his time to rest and recover. But his two coaches, Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi, had another task- the task of scouting out Djokovic and Zverev.

Here’s the picture:

Djokovic will be locking horns with the three-time Grand Slam champion for the ninth time. They have both won four matches each, but it was the 23-year-old who clinched the victory in their last three matchups, including in the semifinal of last year’s Australian Open.

Sinner is bidding to win his second title on the red dirt (after the 2022 Umag Open), while Djokovic is chasing history. He will tie the Grand Slam tally with Margaret Court (25) if he beats the Italian and the winner of the Carlos Alcaraz versus Lorenzo Musetti in the championship match.
