Taylor Townsend arrived at the US Open press conference with a "Honey Deuce" cocktail after losing the tournament final, alongside her partner Katerina Siniakova. The American was in good spirits despite the defeat in the Flushing Meadows final. The world No. 1 doubles pair fell in the final to the third seeds, Erin Routliffe and Gabriela Dabrowski.
Townsend and Siniakova had a great run in the tournament and were seeking their third joint title—after being crowned champions at Wimbledon 2024 and the Australian Open 2025. However, they couldn't replicate what they had done throughout the tournament, and they ended up empty-handed against another of the best pairs in the world, losing 6-4, 6-4.
Townsend arrived at the press conference joking around, where Siniakova—a 10-time doubles Grand Slam champion—was waiting for questions from the press. It was then that Townsend came to sit down at the conference, surprising everyone by arriving with a drink that is traditionally served at Flushing Meadows: the "Honey Deuce," a vodka-based cocktail.
When it was time for questions in Czech, directed at Siniakova, Townsend asked her how to say "thank you" in Czech, while Siniakova tried to teach her to pronounce "dekuji" (thank you) and "díky" (thanks). The American finally decided to leave the press conference, laughing with her partner.

Townsend had a great campaign at the US Open, not just in doubles, but she was also one of the big surprises in singles and one of the most talked-about players during the first week. She reached the 4th round—only her second time at this stage at 29 years old—which gave her a boost in her ranking, placing her at No. 112 in the live rankings and a potential return to the top 100.
On her way, Townsend beat the 25th seed, Jelena Ostapenko—a former French Open champion—in a controversial match due to "Penko's" statements against the local player. Then, in the third round, she defeated world No. 5 Mirra Andreeva, in what was her third career top-5 victory. Her run ended in the Round of 16 against Barbora Krejcikova, where she squandered 8 match points before falling to the two-time major champion from the Czech Republic.
Townsend was looking for revenge in doubles with Siniakova, as they were unquestionably the favorites for the title. On the way, they defeated pairs like Leylah Fernandez with Venus Williams, and the 4th seeds Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens in the semifinals. They faced Routliffe and Dabrowski in the final—who came from eliminating the Italian partnership of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini (2nd seeds)—and overcame Siniakova/Townsend in straight sets.
"They played the big points better," Townsend said after the final loss. "It was hard to pick up the ball coming from certain directions, and it was very quick adjustments that we had to make when we changed sides. I'm just really proud. It can be sometimes overwhelming when you want to win so badly, but ultimately, I feel like I've already won no matter what the result was. We gave it everything, and that's all that matters. We'll have other shots."
Dabrowski and Routliffe had only one Grand Slam title previously, which they achieved as a pair at the 2023 US Open, where they beat Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva in the final. "They've had an incredible year, so we knew that we had to bring it today. I think we did a pretty good job of that," Routliffe said abot her rivals.
They took revenge of the Wimbledon 2024 final (with the same protagonists in both sides) and this time Dabrowski and Routliffe got their second major title as pair, and also become the new world No. 3 (Routliffe) and No. 4 (Dabrowski) in the doubles ranking.
