Novak Djokovic's French Open match against Filip Misolic was interrupted multiple times, coinciding with the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan. The "Parc des Princes" is located near Roland Garros, so the area was filled with local fans.
A significant portion of the crowd in the Philippe Chatrier stands was also following the football match. It was a masterful performance by PSG, who won 5-0 in the Champions League final. It's described as the largest thrashing in the competition's final.
During Djokovic's match, it was repeatedly interrupted by the shouts of celebration and goals from the French team. During the third set, a long rally was disrupted by fans cheering a new PSG goal. The chair umpire had to call for silence, which led to boos from the spectators.
"It was interesting. The crowd was really following the game. And I could hear when they scored. It was way too many times that they were celebrating," Djokovic said after beating Misolic 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. "I was like, 'Wow, this is a lot of goals from Paris! What's going on?' Now I heard it's 5-0. Quite a result, to be honest."
"Night sessions are always different. They're always louder. The people are always more excited. Everything is always loud and different from a day session," said Djokovic. "I knew I was going to have to be scheduled once to play at night. And it's OK. It's fine. I mean, I would be watching football, for sure."
"(PSG) won it for the first time, so I don't know how we're all going to go back to our hotels. It's going to be quite a journey. Quite an adventure. But I think we are in for a long celebration and probably not much sleep tonight. It's a fun night to be in Paris, I guess."
The Serb is preparing for his next challenge in the fourth round against Britain's Cameron Norrie. The match will be played on Monday against an opponent he already defeated a week ago in the Geneva Open final. On that occasion, the former world No. 9 put up a good fight against Nole, but couldn't secure the win: it was 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-1 in favor of the 24-time Grand Slam champion.
