This Friday, Carlos Alcaraz reached his third consecutive Wimbledon final – and now he has his sights set on the trophy.

To defend his title in the final against either Jannik Sinner or Novak Djokovic, the Spaniard defeated Taylor Fritz in four sets: 6-4, 7-5, 6-3, and 7-6.

Fritz wasn’t backing down. He broke to love in the 12th game of the second set to level things up.

But Alcaraz found another level, as he often does. He took control in the third and fourth sets to book his spot in Sunday’s final.

Afterwards, Alcaraz said he was ‘really happy’ with how he played but admitted there were nerves and pressure throughout the match.

Speaking after the match, Alcaraz reflected on his third straight Wimbledon semifinal win and what it took to get there.

“It was a really difficult match, as always when I have to play against Taylor [Fritz],” he said.

“Even tougher with conditions today, it was really hot again.

“I am really happy with everything I have done today. Dealing with the nerves and playing a semifinal here is not easy, and the pressure you might have, but just happy.

“In the fourth set, saving two set points, one when Taylor is serving, I am really proud about the way I stayed calm and thinking clearly, and pleased about my level today.”

Beyond the Wimbledon title, Alcaraz is also defending an impressive 24-match winning streak on the ATP Tour, and he was asked about it.

“It’s not thinking about those things. That’s the first thing. Not thinking about the winning streak or results at all,” said Alcaraz.

“It’s thinking about this is my dream. My dream is just stepping on these kind of courts, this beautiful court, playing tennis on the most beautiful courts in the world, and that is what I try to think about in every tournament.

Now just one win away from another title at SW19, Alcaraz has a chance to complete his dream once again.

After qualifying, the Spaniard also revealed his desire to watch the match between Sinner and Djokovic, saying he does not want to start thinking about the final just yet.

“Right now, I don’t want to think about Sunday, to be honest. I just want to enjoy this moment. Enjoy that I qualified for another final, the third in a row here in Wimbledon, that is something that is really difficult and I have to think about it.

“I have to sometimes think about it and enjoy with my team, with my close people, I have a lot here.

“I will have time to think on Sunday, so right now I am going to watch the other semifinal as well, and we will see.

“This is one of the most exciting match-ups we have on tour right now, [Novak] Djokovic against Jannik [Sinner], so as a huge fan of tennis, I am going to try and see it and watch as much as I can.”
