'What has happened, happened,' Novak Djokovic does not want to look back at his 2024 season so far as he aims nothing less than a title at 2024 Roland Garros

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic does not want to look back at his 2024 season so far and get bogged down ahead of the critical 2024 Roland Garros. As the 37-year-old has failed to win a title in the new season, there are apprehensions about how he will perform at the Grand Slam tournament. Djokovic too is worried but does not want to overthink.

The Serbian ace says that he wants to focus on what lies ahead of him rather than being stuck in the past. Djokovic acknowledged that he has struggled in the 2024 season and that there are several reasons behind it. However, the 24-time Grand Slam champion is not focused on that and what to put his best foot forward in Paris.

It’s various things that were happening in the last couple of months, but I don’t want to get into it. I don’t want to open Pandora’s Box and talk about things. What has happened, happened, and it’s in the past. It’s something that I can’t (let) affect anymore, but I can kind of learn to rectify certain things and right the certain things that are wrong and really not serving the purpose of my highest performance level. Novak Djokovic said ahead of his first-round match at 2024 Roland Garros.

Novak Djokovic looks to play his best tennis at 2024 Roland Garros

Talking about his preparations and the mindset with which he is heading into the tournament, Novak Djokovic said that he is aiming to play his best tennis like he has always done at Grand Slam tournaments. The Serbian said that despite all the struggles, he will look to maintain his level when he plays at the 2024 Roland Garros.

The 37-year-old is hoping to replicate his performance from last year when he won the title. Djokovic will be aiming for his record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title in Paris.

I know what I’m capable of, and particularly in the Grand Slams I normally play the best tennis, at least I aim always to play the best tennis, and I was most of my career able to do that, so that’s the goal.” A defiant Djokovic stated. I have been saying for quite a while that in terms of clay, I want to peak in Roland Garros. Last year I had an amazing year particularly here in Roland Garros, and hopefully, I can have a great tournament. Novak Djokovic said in the pre-match press conference. (H/T: Ubitennis)

Notably, Djokovic who is coming into the Grand Slam tournament after losing to Toma Machac in Geneva will open his campaign against local player Pierre-Hugues Herbert on Tuesday. He will be hoping to get off to a dominant start.

The Serbian ace has not been able to live up to his reputation so far in the season, losing to lower-ranked players more often than not. It will be interesting to see if it will be a redemption for Djokovic at French Open or if he sinks further in the mud.
