Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are back at Wimbledon this summer, while Nick Kyrgios won’t be making an appearance.
Kyrgios, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist, is out of the tournament this season. An injury setback will keep him sidelined for the entire grass-court swing. But that hasn’t stopped the Australian from making tennis headlines.
With Djokovic chasing a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title, and both Alcaraz and Sinner in top form, Kyrgios didn’t hesitate to share his opinion on who enters the tournament as the favourite.
Sinner is looking to improve on his semi-final appearance from last year, while Alcaraz could move one title closer to Djokovic’s record with a third consecutive crown.
After taking on the role last year, Kyrgios isn’t doing Wimbledon commentary this year, but he has now shared his verdict on two of the favourites on talkSPORT: “I would say Alcaraz would be the favourite to win Wimbledon.
“I saw a stat today that he has won four tournaments on grass and he has only lost three matches on the surface ever. I think he would be the favourite.
“What I love about Alcaraz is that he has a bit of both. He has a bit of [Rafael] Nadal, [Roger] Federer and Novak all blended into one. He entertains the crowd, he has the physicality, he has the smile and he enjoys it.”
It took 21-year-old Alcaraz just five Grand Slam final appearances to reach that number, while Sinner hasn’t yet surpassed one.

Alcaraz has also appeared in more Grand Slam finals in total (seven), while Sinner only boasts three to his name.
All tournament long, eyes will be on them once more, right up until the potential headline clash between the two.
