Day 2 at the Wimbledon Championships marks the start of the second half of the draw, as players begin their main draw campaigns. Italian Lorenzo Musetti gets his tournament underway against Nikoloz Basilashvili. Elsewhere, we have prediction articles featuring Jannik Sinner vs Luca Nardi, Novak Djokovic vs Alexandre Muller, Dan Evans vs Jay Clarke, Tommy Paul vs Johannus Monday, Gael Monfils vs Ugo Humbert, Jack Draper vs Sebastian Baez, and Ben Shelton vs Alex Belt. But who will advance to the second round?

Wimbledon Day 2 Men’s Predictions

Alexander Bublik vs Jaume Munar

Ilemona
This one’s a real contrast in styles. Bublik will try to keep things unpredictable, while Munar will want rhythm and long rallies. On grass, chaos usually wins — and Bublik knows how to bring it.
Prediction: Bublik in 4

Damian
All eyes on Bublik before Wimbledon and we’ll see how he handles this situation. He was already in a similar spot after winning Halle in 2023 and fared okay, but also had a slightly easier draw then. Munar improved his fast-court game this year and almost took out Alcaraz in Queen’s, so the Kazakh will need to bring his focus and intensity again.
Prediction: Bublik in 4

Shane
Bublik can be incredibly dangerous on this surface, especially when he is fully locked in. Munar will not have the power or shotmaking to keep pace.
Prediction: Bublik in 3

Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Marton Fucsovics

Ilemona
Kovacevic has been building confidence, but Fucsovics brings serious grass-court experience. Expect solid serving and plenty of baseline battles. If it goes long, fitness might tip the scales.
Prediction: Fucsovics in 4

Damian
Kovacevic and natural surfaces still don’t go well together, making this a very nice draw for lucky loser Fucsovics. The former quarterfinalist suffered a surprising defeat in the final round of qualifying, but should be back for more here with his knifing slice making it very difficult for the Kovacevic forehand.
Prediction: Fucsovics in 4

Shane
Kovacevic is coming into his own as a player, but he has little grass-court success in his career. Fucsovics has the serve and power to win this match. You could not ask for a better draw as a Lucky Loser.
Prediction: Fucsovics in 4

Adam Walton vs Arthur Cazaux

Ilemona
Cazaux has had a strong season and his explosive baseline game can translate well to grass. Walton’s the local hope and might ride the crowd early. If he serves well, it could get interesting — at least for a while.
Prediction: Cazaux in 5

Damian
Cazaux really needed that qualifying campaign after a season full of injuries thus far. His draw in Roehampton was kind, but with his current situation it still didn’t feel like a certainty that he would take it. It’s kind of like that here again as Walton’s game is solid, but nowhere near as explosive. If Cazaux can keep playing his best tennis of the year, he takes it.
Prediction: Cazaux in 4

Shane
Cazaux has an immense amount of talent but is amidst a season riddled with injuries. Walton does not have the game to pierce through the Frenchman. Expect Cazaux to take this after knocking off the early rust.
Prediction: Cazaux in 4

Lorenzo Musetti vs Nikoloz Basilashvili

Ilemona
Musetti’s flair should suit the grass, but Basilashvili’s raw power can still hit through any surface on a good day. It all depends on who settles quicker. Could be flashy, could be messy — maybe a bit of both.
Prediction: Musetti in 5

Damian
So far this year Basilashvili is 9-0 in Grand Slam qualifying, but 0-2 in main draws. Unfortunately for him unless Musetti’s still injured, he’s probably losing here as well. On grass it seems like the Italian can utilize the benefits of playing on a natural surface despite the power-hitting coming at him from the other side of the net.
Prediction: Musetti in 4

Shane
Basilashvili’s power can give anyone fits. On the right day, he could win this match. I just don’t believe the consistency is there.
Prediction: Musetti in 4
