16 first-round matches are scheduled on day two at the WTA Beijing. There will be exciting matches all day, and as always, we at LWOT are offering our predictions for every match on the slate including Lois Boisson vs Dalma Galfi and Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs Janice Tjen. But who will advance?

WTA Beijing Day 2 Predictions

Wang Xiyu vs Guo Hanyu

Head-to-head: first meeting

This is a matchup between two players who are in the main draw as wild cards. Wang Xiyu has struggled all season, winning just one main draw match, and has never won a match here before. Guo Hanyu is in good form coming into this match, but doesn’t have much experience playing at this level. Wang is more experienced, but her confidence might be low after a difficult few months. The in-form player should have the edge in this one.

Yulia Putintseva vs Yuan Yue

Head-to-head: Putintseva 1-1 Yuan

Yulia Putintseva’s season has gone from bad to worse in the last three months, winning just 2 of her last 10 matches. She showed a great level and consistency last season, but has failed to come anywhere close to it this year. However, her opponent, Yue Yuan, is not doing great either and is on a four-match losing streak. Yuan has fallen off the top 100 and will hope to find some form on home soil. The crowd’s support should help Yuan, but she will also need Putintseva to play badly.

Prediction: Yuan in 3

Suzan Lamens vs Wang Yafan

Head-to-head: first meeting

Suzan Lamens has been playing some good tennis recently and will look to build on that this week. She is making her main draw debut here in Beijing and has to deal with a local player. Yafan Wang has won just two matches this season and is currently ranked outside the top 300. Playing at home should give her confidence, but I don’t trust her current level to beat an in-form Lamens. The Dutch player might just have the edge in this exciting match.

Donna Vekic vs Cristina Bucsa

Head-to-head: Vekic 1-1 Bucsa

Donna Vekic will be looking for revenge after Cristina Bucsa easily defeated her at Wimbledon this year. However, she is not in ideal form and doesn’t have a good record at this tournament. Bucsa played two solid matches in qualifying and had a good run here last season. Vekic thrives on confidence, and it doesn’t look like she will be high on it coming into this match. Bucsa has a great chance to get back-to-back wins against the Croatian.

Prediction: Bucsa in 3
