Three Americans are scheduled to feature on WTA Beijing semifinal day. French Open champion Coco Gauff will play Amanda Anisimova before Jessica Pegula faces Linda Noskova. It promises to be a terrific day of action for the fans in the Chinese capital. We at LWOT give our predictions and analysis in this article, but which players do you think will reach the final?

WTA Beijing Semifinal Predictions

Jessica Pegula vs Linda Noskova

Head-to-head: Pegula 1-1 Noskova

Pegula showed great composure in her quarterfinal against Emma Navarro. The 2024 US Open runner-up lost the opener after having six set points, but dominated afterward to prevail 6-7 6-2 6-1. Pegula also saved three match points against Emma Raducanu and defeated Ajla Tomljnovic and Marta Kostyuk earlier in the tournament. Noskova only dropped one set in triumphs against Xiyu Wang, Qinwen Zheng, Anastasia Potapova, and Sonay Kartal.

The Czech beat Pegula earlier this year in Dubai, and only narrowly lost a few months later on grass at the Bad Homburg Open. She effectively rushed her higher-ranked opponent on the forehand side in those matches. Although Pegula usually prefers faster hard courts, the slow Beijing courts suit her slightly more in this matchup, and I expect that to prove decisive.
Prediction: Pegula in 2

Coco Gauff vs Amanda Anisimova

Head-to-head: Gauff 1-1 Anisimova

Both women showed grit to set up this meeting. After a comfortable opening round, Gauff won close battles against Leylah Fernandez and Belinda Bencic, and Eva Lys pushed her more in the quarterfinal than the 6-3 6-4 score suggests. Anisimova recovered from dropping the opening set in the previous two rounds against Karolina Muchova and Jasmine Paolini.

Although Anisimova sometimes plays better on slower courts because she is less off balance, the slower conditions suit Gauff more in this matchup. The two-time Grand Slam winner’s strategy will probably resemble the French Open final. In that match, Aryna Sabalenka made several unforced errors after being frustrated by Gauff’s defense in heavy conditions. Anisimova is probably the only WTA player who can hit harder than Sabalenka, but I give Gauff a slight edge.
Prediction: Gauff in 3
