18 WTA matches are scheduled for Day 2 of the Cincinnati Open. Caty McNally, Veronika Kudermetova, and Ajla Tomljanovic’s matches are all predicted in this article. We here at LWOT predict the rest of the action, including Barbora Krejcikova vs Alycia Parks, Danielle Collins vs Taylor Townsend, Caroline Garcia vs Sonay Kartal, and Maria Sakkari vs Kamilla Rakhimova, separately.
Head-to-head: Zhu 1-0 Bronzetti
Zhu played her best tennis of 2025 at the National Bank Open. She reached the round of 16, a run that included a win against the No. 12 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova. That felt like an important moment after Zhu had failed to find form this year after returning from a severe elbow injury. The Chinese player is capable of continuing that form against Bronzetti, whose form has been patchy throughout the year.
Prediction: Zhu in 3
Head-to-head: Bondar 1-0 Tomljanovic
Bondar made headlines last month for reaching her maiden WTA final in Hamburg. This will be her first match of the North American swing after not playing at the National Bank Open. Tomljanovic is much less consistent than she was a few years ago, making her contests challenging to predict. However, I feel Bondar might struggle to adapt to the Cincinnati conditions and Tomljanovic’s formidable backhand.
Prediction: Tomljanovic in 2
Head-to-head: First meeting
Both women reached the Round of 32 in Montreal. Kudermetova missed a significant chance to beat an out-of-form Coco Gauff, who struggled with hitting double faults in that match and her previous one. Each player in this matchup tries to play aggressively and not give opponents time. Kudermetova’s superior serve could prove decisive, especially since the conditions in Cincinnati, while slower than last year, are pretty lively.
Prediction: Kudermetova in 3
Head-to-head: McNally 1-0 Inglis
McNally has been in great form since Wimbledon. She won the title in Newport before reaching the Round of 32 at the National Bank Open. I think Gauff’s former doubles partner will have enough to overcome Inglis. The American’s attacking style and willingness to come forward do not suit Inglis’s game, even though the Australian played well in the Cincinnati qualifying rounds.
Prediction: McNally in 2
