WTA Nottingham Final Prediction

McCartney Kessler vs Dayana Yastremska

Head-to-head: Kessler 1-1 Yastremska

Both players will contest their first grass-court final. Kessler recorded impressive three-set wins against 2023 and 2024 Nottingham champions Katie Boulter and Beatriz Haddad Maia, both very good grass players. The American also defeated Rebecca Sramkova and Zhu Lin. Yastremska overcame 2021 US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez, Magda Linette, Olga Danilovic, and Antonia Ruzic to reach the final.

Kessler won the most recent meeting between these two–in January of this year at the Hobart International. She frustrated the Ukrainian by being solid from all over the court. Yastremska, as usual, will be the aggressor and strike the ball hard and flat. That is particularly challenging to deal with on grass, and Kessler might need her best defensive abilities to win this match. Some of Yastremska’s opponents in Nottingham have panicked in the rallies because of how powerfully she strikes the ball.

Despite Yastremska presenting a formidable challenge, Kessler is backed to win her third title since August. The World No. 42’s battling qualities and resilience to beat Boulter, who hits the ball with similar power to Yastremska, should give her belief for the final. In addition, Yastremska has lost three consecutive finals and let the pressure get to her in a close battle with Ekaterina Alexandrova in the 2025 Linz Open a few months ago. Kessler’s impressive mentality in finals and ability to dig in might be what decides this contest. Expect it to be tight, though.
Prediction: Kessler in 3
