WTA Rankings Update: Marta Kostyuk rises into top 15 after Madrid title as Iga Swiatek returns to top three

The WTA Rankings have been updated after the Madrid Open with Marta Kostyuk sealing the title and in fact the main ranking rise as expected.

Kostyuk won the third title of her career and her second over the past month after winning Rouen. She dropped only one set in six matches against Anastasia Potapova in the semi-finals in fact and defeated two top 10 players in Jessica Pegula and Mirra Andreeva to claim the title.

The 23-year-old rises to a new career high of World No.15 as a result of this. While in the top 10 further up due to Coco Gauff dropping final points, Iga Swiatek is up to World No.3 again.

Gauff falls out the top three and given she also had big points from Rome and Roland Garros, she is very likely to drop even more in the coming weeks. Finalist in Madrid, Mirra Andreeva still makes a solid gain and overtakes Jasmine Paolini for World No.7.

Baptiste and Potapova win big

Semi-finalist last year but eliminated in her opening match, Elina Svitolina drops three spots but remains in the top 10 for now. Hailey Baptiste who was one of the big winners of the tournament reaching the semi-finals and wiping out Aryna Sabalenka achieves a new career high of World No.25.

Anastasia Potapova also rises going from World No.56 to World No.38 while Caty McNally also rises again after her recent return from injury. She is up to World No.63 with her career high previously being World No.54.

So overall a good week of action and heading into Rome, it will be soon time to go again with Gauff and Paolini the leading focus given the amount of points they have to defend.
