Former UFL Arlington Renegades standout is getting a unique chance to write history in Mexico pro football yet again

Former Arlington Renegades wide receiver and return specialist Juwan Manigo was recently cut by the CFL's B.C. Lions right before the start of the season. The good news for him? It was only a matter of hours before his next step started to become clear.

Mexico's Chihuahua Caudillos—the team with which Manigo put himself on the map professionally to springboard to the UFL—are currently 4-1 in an eight-game season but they are struggling more than expected in 2025.

After winning back-to-back championships in undefeated fashion (the first of which was fueled by an MVP season from Manigo), the Caudillos' undefeated run was snapped a couple of weeks ago by the Puebla Arcángeles, in large part due to offensive struggles. In their latest win, the Caudillos only scored 10 points on the road.

As a result, the front office immediately focused on signing Manigo once he became available. The reunion is happening, as he's been signed and he will report Thursday to play a game on Saturday the same week.

In 2023, Manigo led the LFA (Mexico's pro league) with 1,015 receiving yards and added nine touchdowns in ten games. Iconically, he also recorded 1,255 return yards and another five touchdowns on special teams. He's the only non-quarterback to win MVP in LFA history.

One year later, he was second in the UFL in kick return yards. When the Renegades let him go earlier this year, it was considered one of the biggest surprises around the league. In reality, the release had to do more with the numbers game of building a roster than anything else.

The same goes for his brief stint with the B.C. Lions, where he was cut despite taking reps with the starters leading up to the season.

Now, he returns to the league he dominated in 2023. The Caudillos also reunited with quarterback Jeremy Johnson as the team attempts to bounce back to its dominant self and write history once again with a three-peat.
